MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that Jeremy Jamel Johnson, 37, of Detroit, was arraigned on multiple felony charges and is being held on a $1 million bond after allegedly fleeing from police during an arrest attempt, striking an officer with his truck and running over the officer’s ankle.
The incident began with an alleged breaking and entering and led to a police pursuit and Johnson’s eventual arrest.
On Friday, Sept. 25, 2026, Eastpointe Police were dispatched to English Gardens in Eastpointe.
It is alleged that Johnson was observed driving a truck with landscaping materials in an attached trailer.
Following an investigation, an officer attempted to arrest Johnson.
It is further alleged that Johnson resisted arrest, striking the officer with his truck as he drove away and running over the officer’s ankle with a trailer wheel.
Officers later located Johnson at Gratiot Avenue and 9 Mile Road and attempted a traffic stop using lights and sirens.
It is also alleged that Johnson fled south on Gratiot Avenue into Detroit, where he abandoned the vehicle and was subsequently apprehended.
The officer was treated and released.
On Friday, Sept. 25, 2026, Johnson was arraigned before Magistrate Mark Makoski of the 38th District Court in Eastpointe, Michigan.
Johnson is charged with the following offenses:
- Police Officer – Fleeing – Second Degree, a 10-year felony
- Breaking and Entering – Entry without Breaking with Intent, a 5-year felony
- Police Officer – Assaulting/Resisting/Obstructing Causing Injury, a 4-year felony
- Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Felonious Assault) a 4-year felony
- Habitual Offender – Fourth Offense Notice, an aggravating sentencing factor.
These are the maximum charges available under the law based upon the evidence presented to date.
Johnson’s bond was set at $1 million cash or surety only.
If Johnson posts bond and is released, he is ordered to home confinement, must wear a GPS tether, must not operate any motor vehicle, and must have no contact with English Gardens or any witnesses.
Johnson is scheduled to appear at a Probable Cause Conference at the 38th District Court on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026, at 8 a.m.
