Police issued the following statement Thursday morning, explaining the driver of the second vehicle which struck Kassab has been identified and is cooperating, but they are still looking for the driver of the first vehicle:

The individual identified, was the driver of the second black vehicle that struck the victim. The driver has been cooperating with the police investigation.  The driver’s name is not being released, at this time the driver has not been charged.  The case is pending review by the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office.

The Madison Heights Police Department is still investigating this accident and is asking for assistance in locating the first vehicle that struck the victim and fled the scene.

That vehicle has been identified as a silver 4 door passenger vehicle. This vehicle slows after the collision, but then continues south bound on Concord leaving the scene. The vehicle could have damage to the front end, hood, or windshield.

Anyone with information should call Madison Heights Police (248) 585-2100.

Police said Monday Kassab was not using the designated crosswalk when she attempted to cross the street.

Still shots of the vehicles believe to be involved were captured by a local business' surveillance system, police said.

Again, police now are describing the first vehicle as a silver 4-door passenger vehicle.

Kassab walked the area often because she lived nearby.

"They're speechless," Kassab's cousin, Marilyn Bahoura, said of her family. "They're (in) shock. It's something you would never expect."

Bahoura said Kassab was the kind of woman who was a friend to everyone.

"Beautiful girl," Bahoura said of Kassab. "(She) loves family, loves family gatherings, loves to go out to eat. She was such a foodie. Just an amazing heart. Never hurt anyone."

Bahoura is also struggling to understand how someone could hit her cousin and not stop, and another driver do the same thing while she was lying in the road.
