Former NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal is bringing his fast-casual chicken restaurant to several new locations across Michigan.
Shaq’s “Big Chicken” is already open in Clio and another will be opening in spring of 2024 in Highland, but several other locations are planned across Metro Detroit.

New locations are expected to open in Ann Arbor, Lansing, Flint, Saginaw and Mt. Pleasant, according to a release from H&D Group Investments.
“We’re pleased with the progress we’ve made thus far in securing premium real estate to open Big Chicken locations across eastern Michigan,” said a spokesperson from H&D Group Investments. “Our newest location in Highland marks the next BIG step in our journey of bringing BIG flavor, BIG food and, most importantly, BIG fun to our communities.”
Big Chicken was started in 2018, fusing the brand with Shaq’s home-cooked childhood favorites. There are 11 locations currently open with several more in the pipeline, according to the development group.
Big Chicken in Highland will be located at 1050 Highland Road near the shopping center off of Enterprise Drive.
