WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. – An early morning police chase Thursday ended with a car crashing into the Champps restaurant at 14 mile and Orchard Lake in West Bloomfield.

Police tell Local 4 that the chase started in Beverly Hills with a traffic stop. That's when the driver of the car, a 31-year-old man, sped off.

Police said they stopped chasing the car in the area of 12 mile and Greenfield as the driver was said to be going more than 100 mile per hour.

Beverly Hills police alerted area departments about the car and that's when Southfield police spotted it at 12 mile and Telegraph.

Southfield police began to pursue the car down Northwestern Highway at a high rate of speed when the driver crashed into the restaurant.

Investigators are not yet saying why the driver fled from police. According to crews on the scene, the driver has non-life threatening injuries.
