The following data is sourced from Johns Hopkins University as of Jan. 1, 2021.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States is 20,205,931 -- the highest in the world.

States with the highest number of COVID-19 cases

  2. Texas - 1,779,595 cases
  3. Florida - 1,323,315 cases
  4. New York - 995,816 cases
  5. Illinois - 963,389 cases
  6. Ohio - 700,380 cases
  7. Georgia - 677,589 cases
  8. Pennsylvania - 652,091 cases
  9. Tennessee - 586,802 cases
  10. North Carolina - 539,545 cases
  11. Arizona - 530,267 cases
  12. Michigan - 528,621 cases
  13. Wisconsin - 522,523 cases
  14. Indiana - 517,773 cases
  15. New Jersey - 482,861 cases
