Elderly Roseville woman jumps to escape fire that destroys 2 homes

Crews respond to a fire that destroyed two Roseville homes Nov. 11, 2017.

ROSEVILLE, Mich. – A fire destroyed two houses Saturday morning in Roseville, authorities said.

According to authorities, the fire started at a house in the 17000 block of Birmingham Street at about 5:08 a.m.

Authorities said a neighbor who smelled smoke looked outside and saw the fire. He banged on the door of the home to wake an elderly woman inside, who jumped from the home onto a carport and fell.

The woman, who was injured in the jump, was taken to a hospital, authorities said. 

Authorities said that fire was coming out of all of the house's doors and windows when they arrived. 

The fire spread to another house, and both buildings were deemed total losses.
