Teenage girl dead after drive-by shooting on Detroit's east side, police say

17-year-old brother also shot in incident on Waltham Street

DETROIT – A teenage girl is dead after a double shooting Thursday night on Detroit's east side, police said.

The shooting happened at about 11 p.m. in the 19000 block of Waltham Street.

Police said a 14-year-old girl, Jamesha McWilliams, and her 17-year-old brother, Jeffrey McWilliams, were shot in the incident.

Family members rushed the teens to the hospital. Jamesha was shot in the chest and died . Jeffrey is in critical condition, police said.

Both victims were inside the home at the time, along with several other family members.

Police said the shooter was driving a silver or green Ford minivan.
