A man started firing shots into a car with four teens inside, ages 17, 15, 14 and 13. The 13-year-old boy was injured. The 17-year-old was driving. He said he was getting pizza with his younger relatives when the shooting happened.

UPDATE: Romulus police clear vehicle sought in connection to shooting which injured 13-year-old

The teen said as they were leaving the pizza place a man driving a silver Ford Fiesta was leaving the nearby Burger King on Wayne Road.

"As he makes it onto I-94 west he gets on the exit and he just starts shooting. He shot like three shots at our car, hit like two in the back of the car," the 17-year-old said. "It's not something you expect everyday."

One of the bullets went through the back seat cushion, bruising the driver's 13-year-old cousin who was sitting in that back seat.

"Then we start hearing these shots. I feel like the first shot hit me right in the back like a spike or something," the 13-year-old said.

The teens weren't sure what to do. The 17-year-old had to take the lead.

"After he heard me say, 'Ow,' he checked on me. And we just knew that some guy had shot us. We hurried up and we turned back, but we were still afraid," said the 13-year-old.

They weren't sure if the shooter was still behind them.

"And then I just zipped home after that. I didn't really think about any other action then just getting home, making sure everybody was safe," said the 17-year-old.

It was a harrowing experience for a young group of teens.

"He was sitting right there. He saw both my older brother and my cousin, he could have shot them right there," said the 13-year-old.

Police are searching for that silver Ford Fiesta. Anyone with information on this shooting needs to contact Romulus police.
