Video captures clown on back of DDOT bus

Clown hangs off back of DDOT bus

DETROIT – A video of a clown hanging off the back of a Detroit Department of Transportation bus in Detroit has gone viral.

It has more than 500,000 views on social media. The person who shot the video said it was filmed on Saturday.

Michelle McKinney, who is a regular bus rider, did not find the video funny and thought it was scary.

"He's trying to get into that bus and get to the bus driver and do something to everybody on that bus," said McKinney.

Kendall Hosendove also thought the clown might have been up to no good and if he had been on that bus, he said, he wouldn't have gotten off.

"I would have to stay, until I know for sure he's off of there. I don't want to get off when he's going to get off with me," said Hosendove.

Hosendove is tired of seeing all of the clowns.

"Something's gonna have to happen. Seeing stuff like that. It's getting closer and closer too," he said.

He believes someone will end up getting hurt.

"It's the new thing. Everybody wants to try it but it'll end up getting somebody hurt. You know what I'm saying -- that'll get them hurt for real," he said.

DDOT released a statement about the video:

"The safety of our riders is DDOT's number one priority and that is why we have significantly increased our Transit Police presence and have installed surveillance cameras inside and outside of all of our DDOT coaches. We have forwarded the video to the Detroit Police Department for review."

A spokesperson with the Detroit Police Department said the criminal investigations bureau is investigating the video.
