VIDEO: Clerk hurls stapler at man trying to rob Plymouth Township gas station with fake gun

Police say man implied he had gun under his jacket

PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A Plymouth Township clerk threw a stapler at an attempted robber who was implying he had a gun underneath his jacket, police said.

Video shows the man standing at the counter with a hooded jacket on. He was holding his hands at his waist inside the jacket, apparently pretending to hold a gun, police said.

Video shows the clerk turning to her right, grabbing a stapler and throwing it at the man, causing him to run from the gas station.

The incident happened around 8:40 p.m. Saturday at the Mobil Gas Station at 5 Mile and Northville roads.

Police describe the man as a young, thin and white. He was 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall with brown hair. His lime green jacket had the lettering "St. John's Bay" on the front and writing on the hood, police said.
