MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. – A former youth soccer coach in Warren was sentenced Wednesday morning for sexually assaulting a player.

Jason Niemasz, 33, was convicted of criminal sexual conduct and will spend 31 years in prison.

A 12-year-old girl testified she was assaulted during a sleepover at the coach’s Roseville home in November 2015. She said that she went to use the bathroom at night, and the coach told her to go to his bedroom. Once inside, he closed the door and assaulted her, she said.

As Niemasz was led out of the courtroom, the room applauded.
