Troy man accused of speeding through red light, crashing into car, critically injuring 1

TROY, Mich. – A Troy man was charged after allegedly speeding through an intersection and causing a crash, severely injuring a man.

Mohamed Ali Ahmad, 21, was charged with reckless driving causing serious impairment of body function.

The crash happened at the intersection of Big Beaver and Livernois roads just after 11 p.m. on July 18.

According to police, Ahmad was driving a Ford Mustang eastbound on Big Beaver Road, sped past a red traffic light, and crashed into a Ford Fusion, driven by a 27-year-old Bloomfield Hills man, who was driving southbound through the intersection.

The Bloomfield Hills man was taken to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Ahmad was arraigned in court on July 21 and was given a $50,000 bond.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
