The Michigan Humane Society rescues and helps animals in our community find a loving home, but sometimes before they can be adopted, they need a foster home for temporary care, and you may be able to help.

The foster program is called In Home Heroes and it is a critical component of the Michigan Humane Society. Each year, hundreds of animals benefit from staying in a loving foster home. Reasons some animals need fostering include a cat or dog with a cold, surgery recovery, socialization, nursing moms and litters, and much more. If you are interested in fostering, the Michigan Humane Society provides you with everything you need to care for the animal, including medications, toys, bedding, crates or pens, and whatever other items your foster pet needs for success. All you need to do is supply a loving home and the proper care. You can find more information on the program on the Michigan Humane society's website.

This week's Pet of the Week is named Peaches. She came to MHS through their emergency rescue department. She was very skinny when they took her in, so they have been getting her back up to a healthy weight. They estimate she is about 8 years old. She is a great example of the kinds of dogs that are in the foster program. If you want to adopt Peaches, the Mike Morse Law Firm will pay the standard adoption fees.
