Beautiful Thursday before a wet and cooler weekend

Widespread rain set to arrive Saturday afternoon.

A beautiful day is on tap across Southeast Michigan today, with sunshine, low humidity and temperatures near 80 degrees. It will be one of the more comfortable days of the week, with pleasant conditions continuing into Friday.

The weather turns wetter Friday night as isolated showers and scattered thunderstorms spread across Southeast Michigan. Rain will become more widespread into Saturday, bringing a good soaking to much of the region by the afternoon hours. If you have outdoor plans in the afternoon, start thinking about backup plans. Widespread severe weather is not expected, although a Marginal Risk for strong to severe thunderstorms exists across the far eastern portion of Southeast Michigan. Any stronger storms could produce gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall.

The weather pattern changes significantly Sunday. Cooler and breezier conditions arrive behind the system, with isolated shower chances and wind gusts reaching 25 to 30 mph. Temperatures will remain in the upper 70s.

Overall, enjoy the sunshine and low humidity today and Friday before a wetter, cooler and windier pattern develops for the weekend.
