What does 21 straight wins at home mean for the Red Wings?

DETROIT – As everyone knows the Red Wings set a record with their 21st straight win at home. If you think about it it's so much bigger because players have more pressure on them playing at home than on the road. When you're home you're part of a family. When you're on the road the thinking is different.

Every problem at home is magnified.  There are no problems on the road.

Every car pool becomes your car pool. There are no car pools on the road.

Every light bulb that burns out becomes your light bulb. There are no light bulbs on the road.

Every car with no gas is your car with no gas. There is no car without gas on the road.

Do you see where we're going with this?  The Red Wings accomplishment should be hailed not criticized.  They won at home and there are times, make that many times, that playing at home is tougher than the road.  Home crowd is much more critical than the road. Problems in your home can spill over to the rink.

So pay homage to the Wings.  21 straight wins at home is amazing. One hates to be a buzz-kill but remember this record will be a blip on the radar screen when the postseason begins. So enjoy today...because April is near.  Anyone know the record for consecutive postseason home wins?
