The Red Wings (41-18-2) lead the league with 84 points, just 2 points ahead of the second-place Canucks (38-16-6).

The big news for Detroit on Thursday was the signing of veteran forward Todd Bertuzzi to a two-year, $4 million deal. The signing was just in time before Bertuzzi faces his former team.

The Canucks were on a four-game winning streak until the Nashville Predators topped them 3-1 on Tuesday.

The Red Wings also will be looking to rebound after losing 2-1 to the Chicago Blackhawks. Goalie Jimmy Howard was a bright spot for Detroit despite the loss. He made 27 saves in his return after missing eight games with a broken finger.

Puck drops at 7:30 p.m.

The Red Wings have another opportunity to push forward the NHL home winning streak record with a 24th consecutive win at JLA.

Detroit plays Saturday against the Colorado Avalanche at JLA. New Red Wings defenseman Kyle Quincey played 54 games with the Avalanche this season to earn 23 points before ending up in Detroit in a three-team deal that included Tampa Bay.
