KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee is searching for a new head football coach after firing Butch Jones before the end of the 2017 season.
Assistant Brady Hoke finished the season as the interim head coach, but the Volunteers are still searching for Jones' permanent replacement.

It's been a volatile search so far, with fan outrage nixing the reported deal with Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano. Several candidates have also reported turned down the job, including Duke's David Cutcliffe and N.C. State's Dave Doeren.
AP Source: Leach meets with Tennessee AD about coaching job
Washington State football coach Mike Leach met with Tennessee athletic director John Currie on Thursday to discuss the Volunteers’ coaching vacancy, according to a person with direct knowledge of the meeting.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because neither side intended to make the meeting public. The meeting was in Los Angeles, and Leach was scheduled to fly back to Pullman, Washington. No deal was finalized.
Leach, 56, has been at Washington State for six years and is 38-37, but 26-12 the last three seasons, including 19-8 in the Pac-12. Previously, he coached 10 seasons at Texas Tech and went 84-43.
