DETROIT – Oregon Ducks quarterback Dante Moore is a long way from home, but when the Detroit native got a chance to visit his roots.
He decided it was a good time to give back to the city that raised him.
Growing up, Moore found his passion for football playing in the Detroit PAL Youth Football League.
Going from Martin Luther King High School to the UCLA Bruins and now Oregon, the game of football has taken the quarterback on quite a journey.
Now that journey has led him to write a children’s book titled From Journey to Dream.
A book that’s centered around his childhood and path to playing Division l football.
“I feel like this book will be good for kids just to read and understand,” said Moore.
With college football currently in its offseason, Moore took some time to give back to the children of Detroit.
The star quarterback held a book signing event at Detroit PAL’s Corner Ballpark.
In a full-circle moment for Moore, he wants kids to know that anything is possible.
“If you have a dream, chase it. Many people think the sky’s the limit, but I say reach for the stars,” Moore said. “Many things don’t happen to go your way, I feel like you just learn from them. My freshman year at UCLA, a lot of mistakes happened there, but overall, I learned from them.”
Moore, playing on one of college football’s biggest stages, comes with some of the country’s best competition.
Last year, Oregon’s season came to an end in the College Football Semifinal.
With everyone wondering how the Ducks will perform after losing Heisman finalist Dillon Gabriel to the NFL, all eyes are on Moore.
“All these expectations and things like that, my work will show that any expectation or anything people expect me to do, I know I can do it,” Moore said.
Currently, the Detroit native is ensuring he becomes the best quarterback he can be for the team.
In a season where college football fans across the country are sure to be watching.
