NEW YORK – It’s fight week in the sport of boxing, as this event will be one for the ages, as Detroit-based boxer Alycia Baumgardner is scheduled to return to the ring as the co-main event of the Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano trilogy.

Baumgardner, a native of Fremont, Ohio, will take on undefeated champion Jennifer Miranda on Friday (July 11) on an all-women’s card at Madison Square Garden on Netflix.

After a lengthy layoff, Baumgardner, the Undisputed Women’s Junior Lightweight champion, will step back into the ring for the first time since September 2024, where a clash of heads vs. Delfine Persoon ended the bout in a no-contest due to a significant cut over Persoon’s eye.

The career of the 31-year-old took a brief pause after she tested positive for a banned substance, Mesterolone, days before her win over Christina Linardatou inside the Masonic Temple in July of 2023.

Baumgardner was found not guilty of intentionally taking the banned substance by the World Boxing Council in January of 2024.

In search of change, Baumgardner, who trained at the world-famous Kronk Gym and Superbad Boxing Gym, left the tutelage of iconic trainer Ali Salaam and his son, Tony Harrison, the former junior middleweight champion.

She has since moved to Texas to train with 2023 Trainer of the Year Derrick James for her July 11 fight against Miranda.

The German, Japanese, Korean, and African-American boxer is a mixture of her punching ability and aggressive approach in the squared circle, throwing massive punches that earn her the nickname “The Bomb.”

The Bomb said she will be approaching her fight vs. Miranda as someone who hasn’t eaten in a month.

“I will be approaching this fight in the mindset of, ‘I haven’t ate for probably 30 days, I’m hungry,’” said Baumgardner. “And I’m hungry just for the fact that she is undefeated. She’s a hungry fighter who does come to fight. But, when you’re yearning that hunger and you’re yearning for that next meal, July 11 will show how I’m going to devour my meal and I don’t leave no scraps as I clean my plate.”

Baumgardner will look to feast on Friday while looking to impress her new team, including Ohio native Jake Paul, who is promoting her boxing career under Most Valuable Promotions.

Taylor and Serrano stole the show as the co-main event between Mike Tyson and Paul on November 15, 2024, just as they did.

Similarly, Baumgardner, who is considered the next global star, and Miranda will look to steal the show, meaning boxing fans can expect one of the greatest cards in history, as six titles will be defended.
