DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings have made their first real trade deadline splash during Steve Yzerman’s tenure as general manager, acquiring defenseman Justin Faulk.
Faulk, 33, had 11 goals and 21 assists for the St. Louis Blues in 61 games this season.

He’s played in over 1,000 games during his 15-season NHL career -- eight with the Carolina Hurricanes and the last seven with St. Louis.
The Red Wings gave up a first-round pick and a third-round pick for Faulk, who is signed through next season.
Detroit is currently in third place in the Atlantic Division, just three points behind the Tampa Bay Lightning and Buffalo Sabres.
