Accused getaway driver in fatal shooting of 7-year-old Pontiac girl turns himself in
PONTIAC, MI -- A 17-year-old from Pontiac turned himself in to police Monday, wanted in connection to the shooting death of 7-year-old Ariah Jackson, also of Pontiac. Police were seeking McDonald in connection to the March 18 shooting as they believe McDonald was the getaway driver in the drive-by shooting. Last week, police arrested the accused shooter, Justin Rouser,19, who was arraigned on charges last Friday. The other children in the car were not injured in the shooting. Police have said the shooting appears to be gang-related, however no link between the men accused of the shooting and Ariah or her family has been found.

Police say there is no known connection between Rouser, Ariah and the family, but do believe the shooting is gang-related. Along with the murder charge, Rouser was also arraigned on four counts of assault with intent to murder and multiple weapons possession charges.

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI – Police in Oakland County are searching for a 17-year-old involved in the gang-related shooting of a 7-year-old girl. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office says the suspected shooter was arrested in Troy on Wednesday, Fox 2 in Detroit reported. He will be charged him with first-degree murder and other felonies. “The wrong people are afraid in our community,” Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said in a statement. The other girls in the car at the time of the shooting were 6, 7, and 11, police said previously.

Ariah’s father pulled her from the vehicle following the shooting and took her into the home until police arrived. Once they were in the driveway, that’s when the Blazer returned and fired at least six shots, according to police. The mother’s head was grazed by a bullet in the shooting, but she and the three other children were not injured. Police have not said who they believe the target was in the shooting, but have identified a person of interest in the case.
