MACKINAC ISLAND, MI - One of the most photographed homes on Mackinac Island will be restored to its old glory after fire destroyed the entire third floor and caused $1 million in total damage. The Brigadoon Cottage on Mackinac Island caught fire on the evening of Sunday, May 30, 2021. “It’s a very impressive timeline for this type of project especially for Mackinac island because things take twice as long here. There was a tremendous amount of woodwork inside that was saved as well as all kinds of antiques. MACKINAC ISLAND, MI - A historic building on Mackinac Island has caught fire. It happened at the Brigadoon Cottage around 6:00 p.m. this evening, according to some people on the island who witnessed the fire. The Brigadoon Cottage is located next to the Yacht Club on Main Street. A witness posted on the Haunts of Mackinac Facebook page adding, “Brigadoon has caught fire and looks pretty bad. So far everyone is safe and the surrounding structures look like they will be good.”While Mackinac Island does not allow motorized vehicles, there are fire engines.
