DETROIT – Jake Walman scored with 3.2 seconds remaining in the third period Thursday and the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 3-2 at Little Caesars Arena. The Red Wings (33-32-9) have won back-to-back games for the first time since Feb. 21-23. The Red Wings had three good chances on theirs (Alex Chiasson, Larkin, Kubalik) after Jordan Staal was whistled for cross-checking with 5:29 remaining. Kubalik’s goal 59 seconds into the game gave the Red Wings a 1-0 lead at the first intermission. The Red Wings play at Winnipeg Friday (8 p.m., Bally Sports Detroit) to start a three-game Canada trip with stops in Toronto (Sunday) and Montreal (Tuesday).
