He was editing โFyre,โ the hit Netflix documentary about the music-festival fiasco, when his longtime collaborator, Jon Karmen, suggested another real tale of fraud and spectacle be their next film. By shifting the focus, Smithโs โOperation Varsity Blues: The College Admission Scandal,โ which debuts Wednesday on Netflix, attempts to reorient center stage in a headline-grabbing drama that has already spawned one Lifetime movie. The documentary, like the scandal, has a dose of Hollywood. โOne of the only people that got back to us was John Vandemoer.โVandemoer, a Stanford University sailing coach, was the first person sentenced in the scandal.

(Netflix via AP)LOS ANGELES โ A Netflix documentary will use actor recreations of FBI wiretaps to tell the story of Rick Singer, the man at the center of the college admissions scandal that sent actors Felicity Huffman, Lori Loughlin and and several other prominent parents to prison. Netflix announced Monday that โOperation Varsity Blues" will be released on March 17. More than 50 people were charged in the scandal that saw parents pay bribes to have someone cheat on their childrenโs entrance exams or pretend their kids were star athletes for sports they didnโt play. Singer pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy and several other charges, and is expected to testify at defendants' trials.

Smith told WPDE that he started working at J&J Cafeteria as a dishwasher when he was 12 years old. Edwards allegedly told Smith that he was putting money into an account for him, but no such account ever existed. But I didnt have nobody I could go to, Smith told reporters in 2017. "I am going to play tonight because it is something she would want me to do," Smith said before the game Monday. "When it first happened, I was ready to give up," Smith told a group of reporters after the game.

House orders Pentagon to investigate whether ticks were once used as biological weapons
Pexels(CNN) - The US House of Representatives has ordered an investigation into whether the Department of Defense experimented with ticks and other insects as biological weapons. The most common disease spread by ticks is Lyme disease, which can cause multiple symptoms including fever, muscle aches, joint pain, rash and facial paralysis. Each year, nearly 30,000 cases of Lyme Disease are reported to the CDC, which also says that more than 300,000 people are diagnosed with the disease each year. In 2017, a total of 42,743 confirmed and probable cases of Lyme Disease were reported to the CDC, 17% more than in 2016, according to the agency. During the amendment's debate, Smith said Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases were "exploding" in the US and that "Americans have a right to know whether any of this is true."
Man impaled on stump in Michigan rescued thanks to runners
pixabay.comEAST LANSING, Mich. - A man who was impaled on a stump after falling from a tree in mid-Michigan was rescued after runners heard his calls for help about 14 hours after he fell. Cindy Eiseler tells the Lansing State Journal she and three other women heard someone calling "I need help!" from a dense thicket Saturday morning along the Lansing River Trail. The trail runs next to the Red Cedar Natural Area on the edge of Michigan State University's East Lansing campus. Eiseler's group flagged down runner Chris Smith, who said the impaled man was face down with a "chunk of tree" through his shoulder.
