Michigan edges South Dakota in Sweet 16 thriller
WICHITA, Kan. – Michigan and South Dakota’s head coaches expected a physical, defensive battle heading Saturday’s Sweet 16 matchup. Leigha Brown extended the Wolverines’ edge to four points with a pair of made free throws with 11 seconds remaining, but South Dakota made it interesting in the waning seconds. A missed second free throw went out of bounds off Michigan, giving South Dakota the ball with 7.5 seconds remaining. But Grace Larkins quickly ignited the raucous South Dakota crowd with back-to-back triples to give her team the lead for the rest of the half.
