LIVONIA, MI – The nearly 30-year-old case of a missing boy from southeast Michigan remains unsolved after a DNA sample was found not to be a match, The Associated Press reports. D’Wan Sims, then 4 years old, went missing in late 1994 when his mother, Dwanna Wiggins told investigators he disappeared when they were shopping at Wonderland Mall in Livonia, the report said. After years of tips, clues and dead ends, his mother, Dwanna Wiggins moved to North Carolina, where she passed away Monday. Gretchen Whitmer held a COVID-19 news briefing on Thursday afternoon. Gretchen Whitmer said Thursday that the state is working on a distribution plan that will take effect the minute the vaccines arrive. Whitmer said she believes Michigan will start seeing doses within a few days and wants everyone to have the opportunity to get vaccinated.

About a year ago, a man claimed on social media that he was D’wan Sims. Police said D’wan Sims deserves justice and they’re asking anyone with new information about this case to contact the Livonia Police Department at 734-466-2470.
Police: D’Wanna Wiggins, Mother of Missing Child D’Wan Sims, Passes Away
(CBS DETROIT) – It’s been almost 26 years to the day that D’wan Sims went missing here at what used to be wonderland mall and four days before the anniversary of his disappearance, the boy’s mother D’Wanna Wiggins passed away. Years after building a new life in North Carolina as a wife, mother and trustee of her church, Wiggins died Dec. 7 according to the Durham Police Department. Police did not release the cause of her death, but officers told CW50/CBS Detroit it’s under investigation. Last year a 25-year-old man claiming to be Sims submitted a DNA sample to Livonia Police, but Wiggins never sent a sample in return. Members from Wiggins’ church told CW50/CBS Detroit her memorial is planned for Saturday, Dec. 12.
