Parents say Dakota High School football players are being bullied over a viral video showing burning of varsity jacket
The video showed someone burning a varsity jacket. Dakota High School football players and their parents said the team is being bullied online by adults who should know better. They were called poor sports, lowlifes, drug addicts, future murderers, wife beaters, animal abusers, a parent of a football player, Mark Hall, said. It was a video of a Dakota parent burning his Chippewa Valley varsity jacket after his sons team beat Chippewa. The parent who burned his own varsity jacket has been barred from attending any events without the permission of administrators.
Macomb Dakota football coach suspended before loss, petition trying to exonerate him
A petition has been created to exonerate Macomb Dakota head football coach Greg Baur after he was suspended before Fridays season-ending loss to rival Sterling Heights Stevenson in a second-round state playoff game. A father of a Dakota player who also graduated from Chippewa Valley burned his old Chippewa Valley football jacket in the parking lot when buses driving Dakota players returned to the school following the game, according to the petition. The father allegedly told his son years ago that if Dakota ever beat Chippewa Valley on Chippewa Valleys field, then hed burn his jacket, the petition said. The petition has been created in hopes of getting the Chippewa Valley School District to issue a statement exonerating Bauer and the Dakota team. An email has been sent to Chippewa Valley Schools spokesperson Diane Blain seeking comment from the school district.
