No. 1 pick Spencer Torkelson earns promotion to Double-A Erie

DETROIT -- Spencer Torkelson has just made his first big step on the road to Detroit. 1 overall draft pick in 2020 has been promoted from Class A (advanced) West Michigan to Double-A Erie. Catcher Dillon Dingler, drafted in the second round with the 38th overall pick is also being promoted to Erie. Torkelson and Dingler will join outfielder Riley Greene in Erie, putting three of the Tigers’ top position prospects on the same club. “Torkelson was struggling and now he’s bounced back and he’s showing why he was the first pick and Dingler is showing why he was our second pick,” Avila said.
