The World Heritage Committee inscribed eight of the Wright's famed sites into the list, marking the first modern architecture designation in the United States on the World Heritage roster. The other properties added to the list are Unity Temple, the Frederick C. Robie House, Taliesin, Hollyhock House, and Taliesin West. The nomination process took more than 15 years, the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation said. The designation is mostly honorary, though World Heritage Sites typically receive increased tourism.
