mlive.comWhy I think the Detroit Lions will take Aidan Hutchinson with the No. 2 pick in NFL draft
So I’ll leave the Jacksonville pick to the experts, and they seem to think Walker is the guy. That’s a pure gamble, and given the state of the Lions’ roster/rebuild, that’s not a gamble they can afford to make. “I think that’s a little bit of a knock on Thibodeaux, is there’s times where the effort kind of comes and goes a little bit. You don’t ever see that with Hutchinson.”It’s a tough year to project what will happen in the NFL draft. But if Aidan Hutchinson really is there, as the experts now expect, here’s betting it won’t be a tough choice at all for Detroit.
mlive.comJason Cabinda, Shane Zylstra knee injuries prove costly for Detroit Lions in loss against Falcons
But Cabinda suffered a knee injury early in the 20-16 loss to the Falcons on Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. And look, if I’m being totally honest with you, losing Cabinda hurt today.”The reason the Cabinda injury hurt so much is because he was heavily featured in the game plan. In other words, a game plan that was going to rely more heavily on the fullback. Sure enough, Cabinda caught two early passes against Atlanta, the first time he’s ever touched the ball twice in a game. “There was a number of things we had up (for him) and just our base game plan,” Campbell said.

mlive.comThe Lions go 0-for-165 on compensatory draft picks over last five years
You -- yes, you -- have received the same number of compensatory draft picks as the Detroit Lions over the last five years. The league has now handed out 165 comp draft picks in that span, and Detroit received exactly none of them. The NFL awards compensatory picks every year based on which teams lost the most talent in free agency the previous year. Essentially, the more net talent a team loses on the open market, the better off it will do with comp picks. In fact, every NFC North team received multiple comp picks with Minnesota and Chicago adding two apiece -- every team, that is, except Detroit.
