Motorcycle unit at Muskegon County Sheriff’s Office revived with 2 new Harley-Davidsons
MUSKEGON COUNTY, MI – Come spring, sheriff deputies in Muskegon County will have sweet new tools for law enforcement: two new Harley-Davidson motorcycles. In addition to providing a more “inconspicuous” presence than police sedans and SUVs, the bikes are better capable of accessing property inside local parks, are the preferred vehicle for official “escorts,” and will help with recruitment, Muskegon County Sheriff Michael Poulin told county commissioners. The sheriff’s office has helped with Bike Time’s Patriot Ride, and the Muskegon County Community Run annual motorcycle ride, which has raised and donated half the money for the motorcycle purchases. Those involved with the Muskegon County Community Run urged the board last year to approve the motorcycle purchases. “In the motorcycle community, it’s well-known that these sheriff department motorcycle units are the top riders in the county,” Cindy Meloche of Muskegon told commissioners last November.
