Michigan gym owners meet in Lansing to plead to reopen
LANSING, Mich. – A group of Michigan gym owners met in Lansing Friday to plead with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to reopen gyms. They believe that keeping the gyms closed, it keeps Michiganders from getting healthy. “We’re again reaching out to the administration of Michigan to work with them to help Michigan become a healthier state,” said Ed Eickhoff, with Planet Fitness Michigan Group. Michigan is one of eight states that still has its gyms closed.
Michigan Gov. Whitmer gives insight on gyms reopening
Rashad has been patiently waiting, hoping he can get his business back on track and the treadmill. Hopefully, the governor loosens the restrictions at some point, or soon there very well may not be any gyms in the state of Michigan,” said Rashad. Governor Gretchen Whitmer hinted at gyms possibly opening back up at limited capacity. We’re just trying to make sure that we’ve got the protocol to keep people safe,” Whitmer said. As of right now, having gyms move their members outside is only temporary, so the governor is hoping to find a more permanent solution.
