Steeped in " Star Wars " lore, Szostak has been associated with its art departments since back in 2008. Besides being a key part of the narrative design team on LucasArts's "Star Wars: 1313" project, he also authored "The Art of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" (Abrams, 2019) and "The Art of Star Wars: The Last Jedi "(Abrams, 2017). NEW YORK – The Walt Disney Co. will make a follow-up to the 2019 live-action “The Lion King,” with Barry Jenkins, the director of the Oscar-winning “Moonlight” and the James Baldwin adaptation “If Beale Street Could Talk,” set to direct. The new “Lion King” grossed more than $1.6 billion worldwide, so a sequel was perhaps always likely. Less expected was a “Lion King” with Jenkins directing. The film, Disney said, will explore the mythology of “The Lion King,” including Mufasa's origin story. Disney didn't announce any further plot details or casting on the new “Lion King” project, which was first reported by Deadline Hollywood.
'Star Wars: The Mandalorian' season 3 in the works Report
Pre-production has begun on the third season of Disney+'s "Star Wars: The Mandalorian," according to Variety. The already completed second season is announced to debut this October still five months away however the Hollywood trade reports that season three is already in the works with an unnamed source stating that showrunner Jon Favreau had been writing for season three "for a while," and executive creative director Doug Chiang has been creating concepts for the season "for the past few weeks." We've just started pre-production and are looking into further adventures for the Mandalorian in Season 3, an unnamed source said to be close to the production told Variety. Fans of the popular Disney+ show "The Mandalorian" won't have to wait until October to get new content from a galaxy far, far away. On Wednesday, Disney announced that it would be releasing an eight-part docuseries about the making of the first Star Wars live-action TV show. The first episode of the program will debut on May 4, known to fans as Star Wars Day. "Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian" will feature executive producer Jon Favreau hosting roundtables with cast and crew from the series as well as interviews and never-before-seen footage. Like "The Mandalorian," this documentary series will release episodes weekly.

"The Mandalorian" has dominated social media since its launch, in part because of a surprise new character dubbed Baby Yoda. Mixed reviews for "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker," the ninth and final film in the Skywalker saga, have raised questions about the future of the franchise. You'll soon be able to buy merchandise featuring the breakout star of "The Mandalorian," CNBC has learned. The Child or "Baby Yoda," as "Star Wars" fans have been affectionately calling it was absent from the marketing and initial merchandise launch for the new Disney+ show because showrunners Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni didn't want to spoil his surprise appearance. Apparel and accessories featuring the yet unnamed creature will soon be available through Amazon, Zazzle, Target, Kohl's, Macy's, Hot Topic and Box Lunch, a person familiar with the company plans said. Other products will also arrive at the Disney Store, ShopDisney and at the Disney Parks before the holidays. In addition, presales for toys and plush will be available in the coming weeks.
