BATTLE CREEK, MI – After committing its fifth turnover midway through the fourth quarter, it looked like Lawton’s dream season would come to an end at the hands of Jackson Lumen Christi in the Division 7 football state semifinals at Harper Creek High School. All that was left was for the fourth-ranked Blue Devils to kneel out the clock and advance to face second-ranked Pewamo-Westphalia 10 a.m. Saturday at Ford Field for all the marbles. 39 regional champs highlight Kalamazoo-area girls track 2021 state qualifiers

KALAMAZOO, MI - Athletes from across the Kalamazoo-area put their season on the line at the weekend’s track and field regional meets, and 84 girls ran, jumped, threw and vaulted their way to a state finals berth. Three squads -- Otsego, Lawton and Gobles -- captured team titles, while 39 individuals earned regional championships, including Plainwell’s Mackenzie Hill, Gobles’ Morgan Modert and Kalamazoo Hackett’s Sage Brown, who all captured a trio of first-place finishes and will look to carry that success over to the state finals on Saturday, June 5. The Division 1 meet takes place at East Kentwood, while Division 2 is at Zeeland, Division 3 at Jenison and Division 4 at Hudsonville Baldwin Middle School.
