Milk hauler spills 12K gallons in Sanilac County avoiding head-on crash
MARION TWP, MI— A semi tractor-trailer overturned early Wednesday morning, Jan. 4, to avoid an oncoming SUV in Marion Township. The semi tractor-trailer driver then swerved onto the west shoulder and into a ditch on the west side of the road to avoid hitting the oncoming vehicle. Following the maneuver, the milk trailer overturned and spilled an estimated 12,000 gallons, or $25,000 worth, of milk into the ditch on the west side of Ruth Road. The driver of the semi tractor-trailer was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and was uninjured. Police are asking anyone with information on the matter to call Sanilac County Central Dispatch at 810-648-2024.

MARION TWP., MI—The Sanilac County Sheriff’s office said two people were injured in Marion Township following a crash at the intersection of Maple Grove and Deckerville roads. Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a call just before 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, regarding the crash involving a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado and a 2015 Dodge Journey. Police said the Silverado, driven by a 39-year-old man from Brown City, was northbound and stopped at the intersection stop sign on Maple Grove. According to a release by the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office, the man failed to see the oncoming eastbound Journey and pulled into its path on Deckerville. The man from Brown City was wearing his seatbelt and was evaluated on scene before refusing additional treatment.

Convicted child predator, out on parole, arrested for child sex crimes in Livingston County
MARION TOWNSHIP, Mich. Police have arrested a child molester less than a year after he was paroled. Robert Sohn was charged last Tuesday by the Livingston County Prosecutor with second-degree criminal sexual conduct of a child under 13 years old. Police said Sohn was befriending kids and nobody in the area knew he had been convicted of criminal sexual conduct before. He was convicted of five counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct of a child under the age of 13. Officers made their way to Sohns camper after midnight where the found the child and arrested Sohn.
Sanilac County asking for re-inspection of Madison Heights contamination site
SANILAC COUNTY, Mich. – The Office of Emergency Management has received inquiries concerning a parcel of property located in Marion Township. This parcel has connection to the currently active hazardous material incident in Oakland County. Emergency Management visited the site Thursday and has contacted EGLE concerning this property. Emergency Management has also requested a re-inspection of the property to ensure there is no hazardous material or other public health issues at the location. Emergency Management will continue to monitor this situation, and will provide updates as they become available.
