The Feb. 27 online event, called Celebration of Soul: Soul of the City, will maintain aspects of both the performance and accompanying gala while acknowledging the contributions of local Black leadership. The event will feature musical performances from the Grand Rapids Symphony, Grand Rapids-based Debra Perry & Majestic Praise, and gospel singer-songwriter Marvin Sapp. She said it has attracted a growing audience that helps them celebrate the accomplishments of their community through the Grand Rapids Symphony.
