DETROIT โ A Mastercard commercial is airing that features Black women business owners from Detroit. The commercial features Pashon Murray, who owns Detroit Dirt, Deirdre Roberson with Eumelanin, Erika Boyd with Detroit Vegan Soul, and Rashida โThe Glam Doctorโ LaShawn. The women didnโt know that the commercial would also feature J-Hud or the other ladies. Detroit Vegan Soul is a restaurant offering vegan takes on soul food. Digital exchange Coinbase takes a step toward going public
Digital currency exchange Coinbase is looking to become a publicly traded company, a move being hailed by some as a start to helping cryptocurrency gain more mainstream acceptance. (AP Photo/Kin Cheung, File)Coinbase has filed papers with U.S. regulators to become a publicly traded company as digital currencies continue to march toward mainstream acceptance. The digital currency exchange is seeking a direct listing, which would allow company insiders and early investors to convert their stakes in Coinbase into publicly traded stock. In a Thursday filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Coinbase also revealed how interest in digital currency is gaining steam on the exchange. But volatility currently makes the use of digital currency for the exchange for goods and services untenable.
Facebook's Libra cryptocurrency project in crisis
The firms were part of a group of more than two dozen nonprofits and companies originally listed as "founding members" of the Libra Association, which is intended to to be an independent overseer of the cryptocurrency. "We appreciate Stripe and eBay's support for the goals and mission of the Libra project," a spokesperson for the Libra Association said in a statement provided to CNN Business. The first meeting of the Libra Association Council is set to take place in "just 3 days," the spokesperson added. Facebook previously said it created the Libra Association so that no one company would have an outsized influence over the currency. But from the beginning, it appeared some association members might have reservations about officially joining the group.
