Safely dispose of medication and needles at Muskegon County event
MUSKEGON, MI – The Muskegon community can safely dispose of unwanted or expired medications and needles at a collection event this month. The Muskegon Area Medication Disposal Program is accepting any over-the-counter or prescription drugs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 24 at the Muskegon Township Fire Department, 1117 S. Walker Road. The October 2020 event netted 3,814 pounds of medication and 3,120 pounds of needles from 230 community members, according to a Facebook post. The Muskegon event coincides with National Drug Take Back Day, which started in 2010 to prevent addiction and overdose.
