A Michigan driver reached speeds of nearly 120 mph and cut through a corn field during a police chase that ended when he crashed into a water-filled drainage ditch and jumped into a pond, officials said.
Barricaded gunman arrested after domestic dispute in Lapeer County
NORTH BRANCH, MI -- A 42-year-old Lapeer County man has been charged and arraigned on multiple felony counts after a domestic dispute involving a shotgun. Lapeer County 911 dispatched Lapeer County Sheriff’s deputies and troopers from the Michigan State Police Lapeer Post just before 8:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11 to Jones’ residence on Martus Road in Lapeer County’s North Branch Township, according to a Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office news release. Police determined there were up to eight people in the residence when Jones allegedly retrieve and brandished a shotgun in a threatening manner. Lapeer County Sheriff’s canine handlers were on scene and aviation assistance was requested. He complied with a demand to return to the ground and, after a brief struggle, was taken into custody without further incident around 9:45 p.m.Jones was lodged in the Genesee County Jail.

NORTH BRANCH TWP, MI —Deputies in Lapeer County and their canine have apprehended two minors after they allegedly broke into a convenience store and stole booze. About 3:44 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 10, sheriff’s deputies responded to an alarm at the Whistle Stop Sunoco gas station at 3670 N. Branch Road in North Branch Township. Deputy Frank Ruzicka and canine partner Axel responded to the scene. Deputies apprehended the juveniles, finding stolen alcohol and vape products as they did so. Once it’s completed, deputies will present it to the Lapeer County Prosecutor’s Office for issuance of criminal charges.
