Detroit resident dies after vehicle hits fire trucks blocking traffic for separate crash
HIGHLAND PARK, MI – A 57-year-old Detroit resident is dead after their vehicle rear-ended a fire truck in Highland Park. Troopers from the Michigan State Polices say the trucks from Highland Park Fire Department were blocking part of Davison Freeway near Oakland Street while rescue personnel assisted two vehicles on the embankment at 11:15 p.m. on Jan. 8. A 1996 Ford Explorer traveling westbound on the Davison Freeway lost control and struck the rear end of one of the fire trucks, police said. Highland Park firefighters were forced to cut the driver out of the vehicle and performed CPR, which was unsuccessful. Davison near Oakland Street was closed for the investigation.
