DETROIT - It’s like a winter amusement park surrounded by skyscrapers. Located at 32 Monroe Street in the heart of downtown Detroit, this place has all the ho-ho-holiday cheer you can handle. This is the Winter Monroe Street Midway. This outdoor holiday carnival runs from 11:00 a.m. today through January 29 and features an Arctic Slide and Hockey Puck-Putt operated by Come Play Detroit, Bumper Cars operated by RollerCade along with an arcade, food and beverages and Santa and Mrs. Claus.mlive.com

Winter bumper cars, an arctic slide and hockey putt-putt are just a few of the activities coming to the first winter edition of the Monroe Street Midway. Presented by Bedrock Detroit, the winter Midway will also feature an arcade, food and beverages, artwork and photos with Santa Claus. Winter Bumper Cars are $5 per session and arcade games range between $.50-$3.00 per play. The Arctic Slide will be operated by local sports social organization, Come Play Detroit and will be 20-feet high and 80-feet long. Santa will appear at the winter Midway on Thursdays & Fridays from 4pm to 8pm and on Saturdays and Sundays from Noon to 4pm.mlive.com
Monroe Street Midway opening Memorial Day weekend in Downtown Detroit
A few months ago, Bedrock launched the Monroe Street drive-in theater in Downtown Detroit. But for this upcoming Memorial Day weekend, the company will be turning the site into what it is calling it the “Monroe Street Midway.” This summer, this newest attraction is the midway roller rink.

DETROIT – Back in the 1970s and 80s - the roller rink was the place to be. There are several roller rinks still operating around Metro Detroit these days. Uniquely Detroit's Alex Atwell takes us inside Detroit RollerCade - the oldest black-owned roller skating rink in the city and possibly the country.
