A ballet group in suburban Detroit is scrambling after someone stole a trailer filled with props for upcoming performances of the beloved holiday classic “The Nutcracker.”.

Tragedy struck the Plymouth-Canton Ballet Company when their storage trailer containing vital props for their upcoming performance of The Nutcracker was stolen.

“The Nutcracker” is a holiday staple, and for Ballet Arizona and many other productions around the world, a pit full of musicians is part of the tradition.

A performing arts center in suburban Detroit reopened over the weekend with performances of “The Nutcracker," days after a body was found in the building's ventilation system.

George Balanchine's “Nutcracker” is back in full swing at New York City Ballet, a year after a number of performances were canceled due to COVID-19, and two years after being sidelined entirely due to the pandemic.
