HGTV star Nicole Curtis wins court case over ownership of blighted Detroit property
DETROIT -- HGTV star Nicole Curtis will be able to continue renovating a blighted Detroit house after she was named the rightful owner of the home by a Wayne County court last week. Judge Tim Kenny ruled in Curtis’ favor, according to the Associated Press, granting her ownership of the home which the Detroit Land Bank claimed was theirs. The house, located on East Grand Boulevard was purchased by Curtis’ Detroit Renovations LLC in 2017 for $17,000. Earlier this year, the land bank listed the property for sale and began showing the home to potential buyers. Both Duggan’s office and the Land Bank appear to have moved on following the court ruling.
