Michigan’s fight against COVID-19 is at yet another critical point as 20% of Michigan hospital beds are filled with COVID patients.

( 2020 AJ Mast and General Motors. DETROIT General Motors says it has finished making 30,000 medical breathing machines for the U.S. government to help treat coronavirus patients. The Department of Health and Human Services contracted with GM to build the ventilators at a converted auto electronics plant in Kokomo, Indiana, at a cost of $489.4 million. GM says Tuesday it has turned over control of the Kokomo operation to Ventec, which will continue to make ventilators there and in Bothell, Washington. Earlier Ford announced it has finished making 50,000 ventilators for the government at a cost of $336 million.

DETROIT A coronavirus (COVID-19) survivor who spent 73 days on a ventilator at a Detroit hospital finally got to head home Friday. Anne Duke and her family said they never gave up hope as she fought the virus. On Friday morning, she was released from the Rehabilitation Institute Of Michigan in Detroit. Local 4s Tim Pamplin was at the hospital as Duke left. You can watch his full story in the video posted above.

RIVER ROUGE, Mich. A senior at River Rouge High School is celebrating more than one type of graduation after he spent three weeks on a ventilator and survived the coronavirus (COVID-19). Alijah Cromartie, 18, thought he would be spending this month finishing his senior year at River Rouge. Cromartie was discharged Thursday, and RIM staff members wanted to make sure it didnt go unnoticed. It wasnt the graduation he had planned, but Cromartie couldnt hide his job as the staff celebrated him beating the coronavirus. After three weeks on a ventilator at Childrens Hospital, Cromartie went to RIM to continue his recovery.
