Police seek men who stole jewelry from Westland Mall Sears store
WESTLAND, Mich. – Two men reached behind the jewelry counter at the Westland Mall Sears and stole items Feb. 3, police said. They both reached behind the counter, got into the display cases and took items that they put into their pockets. He stands about 5 feet, 8 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs about 180-200 pounds. He is about 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs around 150-180 pounds. Anyone with information about the crime or the identity of the men is asked to contact police at 734-467-3250.
City of Westland opens cooling centers in response to high temperatures
WESTLAND The City of Westland has opened several cooling centers around the city for the entire week, in response to extreme temperatures reaching above 90 degrees in the city. The centers will include bottled water provided free of charge, along with other amenties to help keep residents cool. Those attending are asked to provide their own reading materials or any personal items they require. The hot and humid air is especially threatening to elderly residents and those with pre-existing health conditions, a press release from the city said.
