DEARBORN, Mich. – A federal lawsuit was filed after a local father said he asked for directions from a police officer and was assaulted. Court documents claim Luther Gonzalez-Hall, 22, asked Dearborn Police officer Marvin Sanders for directions and the interaction ended with the officer assaulting and choking Gonzalez-Hall. At one point during the confrontation, Sanders’ bodycam falls to the ground. “I didn’t believe that it was real.”Now Gonzalez-Hall is suing Sanders, the city of Dearborn and the Dearborn Police Department for the way he was treated. When Local 4 asked about the status of officer Sanders, the Dearborn Police Department immediately asked the Defenders to submit a Freedom of Information Act request.

DETROIT – A 16-year-old boy was shot Wednesday morning at a White Castle restaurant in the 8800 block of Greenfield Road. The restaurant is at the northwest corner of Greenfield and Joy roads. The boy is expected to survive gunshot wounds. His exact condition is not known at this time. Detroit police are working to find out what led to this shooting and who is responsible.

(CNN) - Subway is exploring the plant-based protein trend with a meatless meatball sub. The Beyond Meatball Marinara sub will be available for a limited time. Burger King will start serving a meatless version of its Whopper, featuring a patty made by Beyond competitor Impossible Foods, nationwide this week. For restaurants, testing out the products is a way to cash in on a fast-growing trend. Beyond and Subway worked together to develop the Beyond Meatball, which is only available at Subway restaurants.

The chain won't say how many of the burgers it's sold since first introducing them in April, but did say it's enticing more people to enter its stores. Impossible Foods, the company that makes the burgers for Burger King and White Castle, is struggling to meet surging demand. On Thursday it announced a new partnership with OSI, one of the world's largest food producers. Impossible Foods has doubled the workers at its plant and produced a record number of burgers in June, but demand is still outpacing production.
