21-year-old killed when Camaro gets pinned between rail, semi truck on I-275

Crash shuts down southbound I-275 in Livonia

LIVONIA, Mich. – A 21-year-old man was killed when his Camaro got pinned between the guardrail and a semi truck on I-275, police said.

The crash happened at 3:38 a.m. Thursday, March 5, 2026, in the southbound lanes of I-275 in Livonia.

Officers said the Camaro was heading south when the driver lost control on the wet pavement.

The semi truck hit the passenger side of the Camaro, pinning it between the cab of the semi truck and the guardrail, according to police.

The 21-year-old Plymouth man driving the Camaro was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Southbound I-275 was shut down at 8 Mile Road while police investigate the crash. It has since reopened.
