MSU researchers launch new app to help little ones move -- here's how it works

Michigan State University researchers are trying to help little ones move. Did you know that about 70% of kids experience delays in developing basic physical skills? Running, throwing, catching—skills we assume just happen on their own, but they don’t. And without early help, researchers say those kids are more likely to grow up sedentary, with real consequences for their health, their development, and even how they learn in the classroom. An MSU researcher thinks she has found the right solution. It is a new app, built around fun movement activities that families can do together -- just five to ten minutes a day. That is it. Jackie Goodway, the researcher behind the app Mini Movers, joined Local 4 Live to discuss how she developed it.
