48,000 Michigan patients face out-of-network costs if BCBS deal falls apart

A contract dispute between Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Michigan Medicine threatens to disrupt care for thousands of patients, including young children with serious conditions. If a new agreement is not reached by June 30, families may be forced to find new doctors or face out-of-pocket costs, though Blue Cross has temporarily extended in-network rates for patients with life-threatening conditions through September 29.
