Auburn Hills water main repaired, pressure restored ahead of schedule
Good news came earlier than expected for tens of thousands of people in northern Oakland County. The water main in Auburn Hills has been repaired, and water pressure has been restored! That 42-inch main broke from Saturday into Sunday. People in Orion Township and surrounding communities were told to prepare for the possibility of two full weeks without water. Now, the new section of pipe is in place, and service has been restored ahead of schedule. But there is one catch. Showering, laundry, and car-washing are all okay to do. But drinking water straight from the tap is not okay. The existing boil water advisories could last into the weekend. Orion Township will send text messages every morning with the status of the boil water advisory. This is through its "Civic Plus" alert system, which people can sign up for on the township website.
